The suicide of Jordan DeMay, a 17-year-old Michigan high school student, occurred on Friday, March 25, hours after blackmailers threatened to disclose a naked picture of him in connection with an attempted sextortion scheme. Apparently, DeMay paid $300 to the blackmailers after they threatened to send the naked photo that he was duped into sending to all of his social media contracts unless he paid them $300 immediately.

According to the authorities, the blackmailers created a fictitious Twitter profile in the name of an attractive female and gave DeMay a naked photo of the fictitious girl. To which he responded by sending an unclothed photograph (which was later leaked), after which they began blackmailing him about leaking the picture. Initially, they requested $300 from DeMay, but even after he agreed to pay, they demanded additional money from him and attempted to extort $1000 from him. DeMay, who was a student at Marquette Senior High School at the time of his death, committed suicide shortly after.

Soon after, she emailed Jordan a nude photograph, and he responded with a compromising one of his own. According to investigators, they initially classified the case as a “teenage suicide,” but when a friend of DeMay came forward and told them that the blackmailers had contacted her as well, they reevaluated the situation. “Jordan’s pal received the nude photograph that he had sent to him. She was aware that Jordan had committed suicide, and she had seen the photograph, when they began demanding money from her as well. She informed them that he committed suicide. They said everything was fine, so she hung up and contacted the police “Zyburt chimed in with his own thoughts. After an investigation, detectives came to the conclusion that DeMay was a victim of cyber extortion. Although no arrests have been made as of yet, the inquiry is still in its early stages.

It’s believed that Jordan was being extorted via Instagram over images of himself that he’d shot for his own personal use. As a result of the perpetrator’s intense pressure, Jordan was forced to pay money in exchange for the photographs not being distributed to his family or Instagram followers. According to current estimates, these events took place in less than six hours. He had a girlfriend, according to his Instagram account, with whom he had been dating for more than a year. On March 30, a funeral service was held at the Lake Superior Christian Church in Marquette in memory of DeMay. Jordan John DeMay, age 17, of Marquette, died on Friday, March 25, 2022, after a brief illness. According to his obituary, “Jordan went to Cherry Creek Elementary, Bothwell Middle School, and Marquette Senior High School, where he was heavily involved in the football and basketball teams. He is currently a senior. Jordan was a compassionate, mature, and team-oriented athlete who once stated that his objective was to “be the greatest person I can be as a human on and off the pitch.” Jordan passed away on March 19, 2018. He was a dedicated young man who, after being sidelined for a year due to a significant knee injury, took the decision to rehab himself and make plans to attend college in the fall of his senior year.”
