Jurors deliberated for an hour on Thursday before returning a guilty verdict for an Alabama woman charged with injecting her husband with a lethal dose of insulin.

Former nurse Majorie “Nikki” Cappello was charged with killing Jim Cappello, who was found to have excessive amounts of insulin in his system when he died, despite not being diabetic and using the drug.

The trial entered its third day on Thursday, as CrimeOnline reported earlier, wrapping up in the afternoon.

Jim Cappello was found on a tarp near his car in the couple’s garage in Huntsville in 2018 after his family reported him missing. His wife had repeatedly resisted requests to search the home for the missing man, prompting investigators to secure a search warrant.

Detectives also found a shovel, a freshly dug hole, and a pair of muddy women’s shoes on the property.

Huntsville police said that Nikki Cappello had stolen insulin from the hospital where she worked at the time and that she had confessed to a friend that she killed her husband. But when she asked the friend to help her dispose of his body, the friend called authorities instead.

Jim Cappello was a private investigators who had become suspicious that his wife was taking narcotics. He had been preparing to file for divorce and planned to seek full custody of the couple’s young daughter.
