BABY P’s mother could stay locked up after Dominic Raab wrote to the Parole Board demanding they reverse their release decision.
There was an outcry when Tracey Connelly, 40, was cleared to be freed last month.
Justice Secretary and Deputy PM Mr Raab criticised the decision and last night demanded the board think again.
A source close to Mr Raab told The Sun: “He was deeply concerned when he read the Parole Board’s report and immediately made clear he would trigger the reconsideration mechanism.
“Offenders like her should face a higher bar before they’re considered for release and our reforms will make sure she would in the future.”
Peter Connelly — known as Baby P — died in 2007 aged 17 months.
He suffered 50 injuries, including a broken back.
His mother was jailed indefinitely in 2009 with a minimum of five years for causing or allowing the death of her baby.
She was released in 2013, but was recalled in 2015 for selling nude pictures of herself online.
