EMOTIONAL tributes have been paid to a “beautiful” young dad found dead at home – as cops are given more time to quiz a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.
The casualty, a 22-year-old man who was today named locally as Brad Lewis, was found fatally injured at a home in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire on Friday evening.
He was rushed to hospital, but couldn’t be saved. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A woman who was known to him was arrested and continues to be held at a police station today.
Friends and neighbours have now told of their shock and distress, while Mr Lewis’ father is believed to have visited the scene in person to read messages left on bouquets.
One said: “We lost a fantastic, beautiful person without saying goodbye.
“I hope he knows just how much and how many people loved him.”
A second described him as a “lush boy”, adding: “So sad you were taken from this earth.”
Another said: “Your family will miss you so much and those beautiful children of yours are going to miss you so much my brother.
“You have grown to be the man everyone wanted you to be, so respected and loved.”
In a statement, Hanham Athletic Football Club (HAFC) paid tribute to Mr Lewis, who was a reserve.
“HAFC are deeply saddened to advise that one of our reserve team players, Brad Lewis, passed away,” the statement reads.
“We remembered Brad with a minutes’ silence before our fixture yesterday.
“Our deepest condolences to all of Brad’s family and friends.”
Police confirmed today that officers have been given extra time to question the arrested woman.
Detective Inspector Ben Lavender said the “investigation is continuing at pace”.
“We have a team of officers and police staff working tirelessly to piece together the events which led up to this terrible incident,” he said.
The victim’s family are being supported by specially-trained officers as the investigation continues.
White-suited forensics officers could be seen going into Mr Lewis’ home today.
