A MAN and a woman have been arrested and charged in connection with the killings of a lesbian couple.

The dismembered body parts of Yulizsa Ramírez and Nohemí Martínez, who lived in Texas, were found in plastic bags by the roadside in Chihuahua, Mexico on January 17.

Mexican authorities initially said their killings were not a hate crime, but several LGBTQ+ groups have called for justice over their deaths, according to the Washington Post.

Suspects Jaqueline Isela CR and David R have been arrested by cops.

Their surnames have not been released by authorities, People reports.

They allegedly contacted the couple on January 15 and took them to a home in San Isidro.

Cops believe the killings took place at the location, adding that they found “sufficient evidence” when a search warrant was executed.

The suspects are set to appear in court on January 28.

Ramírez and Martínez were found by the roadside between Ciudad Juarez and the town of El Porvenir.

The bags were found around 17 miles away from each other.

They were in the city visiting family at the time of their deaths, according to El Diario.

The couple, whose ages were not given, lived in the city of El Paso, across the border in the southern state of Texas, and got married on July 20, 2021.

They had three young children, two girls, and a boy, who are now orphans.

Their names and ages have not been released to protect their privacy.

It was not revealed if they were adopted or if they were either woman’s biological children.

Officials fear that the killings could go unsolved.

‘KIDS LEFT BEHIND’

Karen Arvizo, who is the Chihuahua Committee for Sexual Diversity director, told DailyMail.com: “The concern is that the authorities will absolutely do nothing.

“We feel like we are treated like second-class citizens and that we really don’t matter.”

Cops also found two other women in bags in a different neighborhood in Juarez.

One woman in the second discovery was found dead at the scene.

The second woman was found alive, crying, but later died, according to city officials.

They were both tortured and shot, according to local media reports.

The pair were discovered in the Cuauhtémoc y Nombre de Dios intersection in the Patria-Zaragoza neighborhood.

The victims, who have not been identified, were between 30 and 35 years of age. It’s not known if the killings were linked.

At least 65 homicides have been reported in Ciudad Juarez, according to crime data reviewed by El Diario.

And, more than 1,400 of the 2,476 homicides that were registered in Chihuahua took place in Ciudad Juarez.
