THE son of Casey White victim Connie Ridgeway is demanding justice for his mom after the convict and his guard “lover” Vicky White were caught by police after a dramatic manhunt.

Austin Williams, 42, said he and his family fought for years to bring awareness to his mother’s 2015 murder – but it wasn’t until 2020 that White confessed.

On Monday evening, Vicky died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after she and White were hunted down in a chase that began in Alabama and culminated in a dramatic Indiana police chase.

The convict – who had a “special relationship with Vicky – was serving a 75-year sentence for kidnapping and attempted murder charges and due to face trial for the murder of Williams’ 58-year-old mom.

His mother Connie was brutally stabbed to death during a home invasion robbery in 2015; although White confessed to the crime in 2020, he later pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Williams described White’s capture as a “miracle” after his widely-publicized run from justice ended in a car wreck and Vicky’s death.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Williams said: “It’s huge. [I’m] so glad we still have the chance to get justice for Connie.”

Connie’s grieving son said he is “relieved and happy no one is in danger anymore” after Vicky and White tried to flee once more in a car chase in Evansville, Indiana.

The police pursuit only lasted “less than a few minutes” before the shocking crash and Vicky’s hospitalization said Vanderburgh County, Sheriff Dave Wedding.

Before the runaway pair were captured, Connie’s son told The Sun how he feared for his own safety as well as the safety of the general public while White was at large.

“He’s a very dangerous person with a violent history,” Austin said.

“This is a six-foot-nine, 250-pound man who broke into a woman’s apartment and stabbed her to death,” he alleged.

“Anyone who crosses his path is a huge amount of danger … there’s no limit to what he might do.”

Austin said he first learned of White’s escape after receiving a call from the District Attorney’s Office on Friday before the alarm was raised to the press.

The 42-year-old, who resides in Nashville, Tennessee, said he is shocked and dumbfounded as to how something like this can happen in the first place.

“It’s really hard to describe how I feel,” said Williams. “I really didn’t know how to react when they told me I was just so shocked.

“It’s hard to comprehend that something like this is even possible. It completely blows my mind.”

A FAMILY’S PAIN

Seeing White’s name plastered all over the news and across social media has reopened a number of old wounds for Austin and his family, he previously revealed.

He had voiced his hope that Casey will finally face trial for the murder of his mother before police caught up with the convict this evening in a dramatic chase that culminated in Vicky’s death.

“It’s all very shocking and frustrating,” Williams told The Sun – days before cops caught up with the fugitive pair.

“You think you have the guy and he’s finally going to trial and then all of a sudden he gets out and someone who is meant to keep him inside actually helps him get out.

“We want to see him back behind bars as soon as possible so we can learn the motive behind why he killed my mom.

“She was such a nice, gentle soul. And I still don’t understand how somebody could do such a thing to her.”

Once recaptured, Williams suggested that White should be placed in a maximum-security facility under the highest level of surveillance possible until “he’s not here anymore.”

“It blows my mind that someone who is familiar with Casey White and his record would risk anything with him because he is just such a dangerous person,” Austin added.

Before White’s bombshell arrest today, Austin had pleaded with the pair – who are not related – to turn themselves in: “Please just give yourselves out before anyone else gets hurt.

“No one else has to get hurt. It’s not too late for you to turn yourselves in and come back in safely.”

PREVIOUS JAILBREAK ATTEMPT

This is not the first time White has attempted to escape from custody.

He previously hatched a violent plan to escape from the Lauderdale County Jail in October 2020 ahead of his arraignment for the murder of Ridgeway.

After requesting if he could stay at the jail instead of being transferred back to prison,

White reportedly made two makeshift knives – or “shivs” – in a shower at the facility which police believe he planned to use to take a hostage and aid his escape.

However, the plan was foiled by vigilant correctional officers.

The prison then established a policy mandating two sworn deputies accompany him at all times, including during transportation to the courthouse.

DEADLY CHASE

Vicky White was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for “very serious” injuries this evening after US Marshals closed in on their escape car, police confirmed.

Casey White was driving that vehicle, Vicky White was a passenger,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton at a press conference right after the duo’s capture.

“During the pursuit, the vehicle got wrecked. Casey White surrendered. Vicky White has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

“What I am very thankful for tonight is that no one was hurt, no citizens were hurt, not law enforcement officers were hurt as a result of this escape.”

Later, the sheriff told News Nation’s Brian Entin that Casey would be “shackled day and night” in the wake of his dramatic prison break.

“I’ll probably hear from a civil rights attorney but I don’t care,” Singleton declared.

The sheriff also reportedly said that he wouldn’t be surprised if Vicky’s gunshot wound was not self-inflicted as previously reported but acknowledged there’s no evidence to suggest that yet.
