FORMER SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton has admitted that spending time in prison is his “biggest failure”.

The British adventurer spoke candidly about one of the darker chapters of his life and claims it has taught him a valuable lesson.

Why did Ant Middleton go to prison?

Ant Middleton was sent to prison after being convicted of the unlawful wounding of one police officer and of common assault upon a second outside a nightclub.

The incident happened back in 2013 in Ant’s hometown of Chelmsford, Essex.

Following a night out, his friends got into a brawl with another group of men.

Ant was not initially involved in the event and actually broke it up.

However, when the police eventually arrived on the scene and asked Ant to leave, he lashed out.

How long was Ant Middleton in jail?

Middleton was sentenced to 14 months in prison, serving four months.

In 2015 he told the Mirror he was “filled with remorse” over the incident, which he blamed on the difficulties involved with transitioning from military life to civilian life.

What has Ant Middleton said on his time in prison?

Ant opened up about his past during an appearance on This Morning speaking to hosts Phillip Schofield and Josie Gibson, who was standing in for Holly Willoughby at the time.

He revealed: “My biggest failure was going to prison, but boy oh boy, was that my biggest learning curve. Why was I there? Talk about self-reflection, talk about holding yourself accountable.”

Ant emphasised that he understood it wasn’t about trying to “pass the blame” or make an excuse for his behaviour.

“Holding yourself accountable, being honest with yourself. Honestly, it will free you as an individual. But it’s really hard to do,’ he stated.

“So when I went into prison, it was like alright, this is no doubt my biggest failure, but the biggest lesson I’ve learnt from it is understanding who I am, what I need to do differently and attacking life differently and it’s changed me as an individual and it’s changed my life.”
