Lamine’s absence will likely serve as a blow to both Barcelona’s attacking depth and Spain’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Lamine Yamal injury update
FC Barcelona on Friday announced that Yamal’s groin injury flared up again following the PSG match and will likely sit out for a few weeks. After his last match against PSG, where he played the full 90 minutes, he was seen limping out. The club stated:
“The groin problem for Lamine Yamal has returned following the game against PSG. The player will miss the game against Sevilla and his recovery time is estimated at two-to-three weeks.”
This isn’t the first time that Yamal has struggled with the same issue after he initially picked up the injury during Spain’s September international break. The injury made him miss four matches between September 18-25. Despite making a return against Real Sociedad last week, Yamal’s quick comeback likely aggravated the problem again.
While some online rumors have claimed that the footballer is suffering from a STD which he contracted due to his relationship with singer Nicki Nicole, such is not the case. Yamal is experiencing discomfort in the pubic area and is currently unable to train or play due to it.
Expected return date
According to reports, Barcelona is looking to have Yamal fully fit for the season’s first El Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. This means that he could miss five games in total, including three for Barça and two for Spain.

Luis de la Fuente denies playing Lamine Yamal while injured
Following the news about the injury, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick criticized Spain’s handling of Yamal’s initial injury. In response, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente dismissed the claims and expressed his surprise, stating:
“I always tell the truth. When the match ended, he had some discomfort, but nothing serious. Our medical team assessed him carefully.”
De la Fuente further added:
“Here, the risk is zero. Whoever comes here is healthy and ready to play. If someone goes home, it’s because they can’t continue without risk.”

Lamine Yamal will likely miss the following game days:
