Elizabeth Webber was all ready for a high school dance, but she stopped on her own in the park first. That night changed her life forever after she was sexually assaulted. Lucky Spencer found her and became her support system as the pair fell in love in a sweet and tender romance, according to Soaps In Depth. However, the attack also brought out the fact that Lucky’s father Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) had also assaulted his mother Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) before they were together (via the Associated Press). The knowledge changed how Lucky viewed the world.
Elizabeth and Lucky were troubled young people who married several times. They also dealt with several extramarital affairs and Lucky’s addiction to painkillers after he was injured as a cop (via Soaps.com). Rebecca Herbst played against several Luckys during his time on the show. Jonathan Jackson originated the role in 1993 and left the soap in 1999 to be replaced by Jacob Young and eventually Greg Vaughan. Jackson returned as Lucky in 2009 and played him off and on until the character left town in 2015 (via Soaps In Depth).
By the time Lucky made his final departure, Elizabeth had given birth to three sons. He sporadically helped her raise them, but only one, her youngest son Aiden, was his. However, there was even some question over Aiden’s paternity due to Liz’s brief affair with Lucky’s brother, Nikolas Cassadine (then played by Tyler Christopher).
