In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Halterman candidly explained that the reality show is starting to cut into quality time with her family. “I’ve been on the show for three years. At first, it was easy, but now that I have Gage it’s like, he doesn’t want me out of his sight,” she said. “I feel like I’m being a bad mom when I’m at work. He’s always at Granny’s when we’re filming and stuff. I feel like I’m losing valuable time.”
Amy explained that the network hasn’t yet decided to extend her series — but she’s not especially eager to commit to another round of filming. “I don’t really want to do another season, because I’m pregnant,” she told the outlet. “[L]ast season I was working every day for weeks, plus renovating a house, plus Gage, plus Tammy, plus my mom. It was just a lot last year and I can’t do it.”
If TLC does add another season, Amy said she’d reconsider if they agree to cut down her schedule to two days a week and focus more on sister Tammy and their brother Chris. It’s not such an outrageous idea; much of the drama of the last season centered on Tammy’s struggles to stay motivated in her weight-loss journey. The season finale saw her barely survive a health emergency; now she is in rehab and has already lost 115 pounds, per People.
