During an interview with Chelsea Handler, Harry Styles confirmed what fans had long suspected: he has two extra nipples. “There’s a rumor on the Internet that you have four nipples. Have you heard that?” Handler asked, to which Styles replied, “Correct.” Surprised, Handler said, “You do?” and he answered, “Yeah.” He even pointed out where they were, albiet over his shirt.
The extra nipples are considered supernumerary (aka extra) caused by a common condition called polythelia. “When the body develops, sometimes nipple forming cells accidentally migrate down the chest below the normal nipple,” Dr. Joshua Zeichner told Allure. “Supernumerary nipples can develop anywhere on the chest, armpit, even belly or into the groin, along a vertical line below the nipple, known as the ’embryonic milk line.'”
Styles seems pretty unfazed about having four nipples. But what does make him uncomfortable is being considered a sex symbol. “Honestly I’d say I try and think about it as little as possible, because it’s a very strange, dynamic thing,” he said (via People). “It’s also like a weird thing to think of about yourself. I guess the thing with sex in general, is like, it used to feel so much more taboo for me. Even like when we were in the band, the thought of people thinking that I had sex was like, oh no, that’s crazy. What if they know?”
