Since its premiere in 1999, “Law And Order: SVU” has skyrocketed in popularity, and remains “the longest-running primetime live-action series of all time,” according to NBC. The show’s massive popularity has meant that celebs are only too-eager to step into various guest roles, which often go unnoticed by even the biggest of fans. John Stamos joined the list of A-listers to appear on the hit NBC series when he featured in a 2011 “SVU” episode titled “Bang,” per IMDb.
In the episode, Stamos took on the role of a charming and wealthy venture capitalist who claimed to want to help the SVU team solve a case where a baby had been abandoned, according to TVLine. But as the episode unfolded, Stamos’ character’s sinister secrets came to light when detectives learned that he had been “purposely impregnating” multiple women. Because fans were used to seeing Stamos portray more wholesome characters, the role was a surprising one, not to mention one that “scared the hell out of me,” as the actor told TVLine. However, “roles like this … is where I should be going with my career,” he reflected, adding that he considers it to be “one of the best things I’ve ever done on television.” While Stamos excelled in the role of a hardened criminal, fans are likely looking forward to seeing him portray more loveable characters in the future.
