BORIS Johnson’s baby daughter was badly-hit by Covid when she was just five weeks old, it’s reported.

The Prime Minister vanished from the public eye last Thursday after a member of his family tested positive for the virus.

It’s now claimed little Romy was poorly with the illness.

She’s believed to be “on the mend”, the Daily Mail reports.

It comes amid a difficult few weeks for the embattled Prime Minister.

He pulled out of a visit to Lancashire last week after revealing he’d been in close contact with a relative who had Covid.

A No10 spokesman said he would “follow the guidance for vaccinated close contacts, including daily testing and limiting contact with others'”.

On the same day he withdrew from his trip, he issued an apology to the Queen after two boozy parties were held at Downing Street the day before Prince Philip’s funeral.

Mr Johnson did not attend the gatherings.

PM’S DAUGHTER WAS POORLY

On Tuesday, he appeared in public again to address claims of parties at Downing Street in an interview with Sky News.

During the chat, Mr Johnson – who wore a blue face mask – appeared to be tired and unusually sombre.

He told reporters “nobody” told him a ‘bring your own booze’ gathering he allegedly attended in May 2020 was against the rules.

“I do humbly apologise to people for misjudgements that were made,” he said.

Dominic Cummings has accused Mr Johnson of lying to Parliament over the parties.

Meanwhile, his spokesman has had to field claims he wept as he urged MPs not to expel him from Downing Street.

It was claimed Mr Johnson called 20 rebel politicians in tears.

His press secretary said today: “I’ve seen that report.

“It’s not true.”

And during a bruising PMQs this afternoon, Mr Johnson faced a skewering from both Sir Keir Starmer and his own MPs.

Minutes before he got to his feet in the Commons the PM was rocked by the news of a Tory MP defecting to Labour amid a growing plot to overthrow him.

Christian Wakeford, a 2019 Red Waller representing Bury South, sensationally defected in a hammer blow to No 10.

PM’S NIGHTMARE WEEK

In a lengthy parting shot he said the PM is “incapable of offering the leadership and government this country deserves”.

And in a devastating double whammy, veteran former Cabinet minister David Davis used his speech to MPs to call on Boris to resign.

He told the PM: “You have sat there too long, for all the good you have done. In the name of God, go.”

The quote was said by Tory MP Leo Amery to wartime premier Neville Chamberlain in May 1940.

But Boris has launched his fight back already – and there are signs the plan to oust him has already lost its fizzle.

In a bid to steady the ship, he’s scrapped Plan B, with working from home at an end and masks set to follow.

FIGHT BACK BEGINS

And he reassured Brits there’s a “light at the end of the tunnel” in the fight against Covid.

In even better news, cases of the virus are plummeting.

In total, 108,069 new infections were reported today, down from 129,587 last Wednesday.

Romy Iris Charlotte Johnson was born on December 9 at University College Hospital in London.

She’s the second child shared by Mr and Mrs Johnson, following the birth of Wilfred 20 months ago.

Children who catch Covid are generally affected much less seriously than adults are.

However, there’s more concern for very young babies because they’re so vulnerable.

Romy’s illness is not the PM’s first experience with Covid.

He almost died after contracting the virus in 2020.
