Mo Gilligan made a playful dig at the Prime Minister after he was forced to apologise for office parties held at Downing Street during the coronavirus lockdown.

While hosting the BRIT Awards on Tuesday night, the comedian, 33, took aim at Boris Johnson after it was revealed parties were held during the strict UK lockdown.

During the live coverge, Mo was also forced to apologise for ‘getting carried away’ and accidentally saying ‘f**k’ while the cameras were rolling.

Mo poked fun at Boris and said he ‘knows he loves a cheeseboard and a party’, as he encouraged the PM to come and join the ceremony during the live coverage.

Mo was hosting the annual Britihs music awards at London’s O2 Arena for the first time, after taking over hosting duties from Jack Whitehall.

Following Anne-Marie’s performance with KSI and Digital Farm Animals, Mo couldn’t resist throwing shade at Boris’ recent antics which have been hitting the headlines.

Mo began: ‘We all love a party. The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Speaking of parties, Boris, I know you’re watching.

‘I know you love a party. Come down my guy! I know you like a cheeseboard! Look at you with your Dairyleas.’

Following his comments Mo flashed a cheeky grin to the camera and the live audience roared with laughter following the savage dig.

Viewers at home also picked up on the comment and took to Twitter during the show to share their amusement over Mo’s remarks.

One person said: ‘Cannot lie Mo cracked me up, we all know Boris loves a partyy [laughing face emojis]’.

Sue Gray’s update on the partygate scandal has revealed 12 events held in Number 10 and across Whitehall during lockdown are now subject to police investigations.

Elsewhere during his hosting debut, Mo issued an apology after he swore during the live show in a pre-watershed part of the programme.

While introducing the award for Best Dance act, Mo admitted to getting ‘over excited’ and swore before the coverage cut to the next segment.

Mo later issued an apology as he said: ‘So guys, earlier in the show, I got a little bit carried away and I swore.

‘Apologies for any offence. I lost myself.’

He also joked that his aunty would not be happy with his language on the show.
