MULTIPLE vehicles and pedestrians were involved in a ‘major collision’ on Friday night, police say.
At least nine people have been injured in the crash involving one food truck and two other vehicles on a road in downtown Austin, Texas.
Austin-Travis County EMS crews are on the scene, where officials reported that one vehicle collided with the food truck and multiple pedestrians.
Of the 11 people involved, nine were transported to the hospital — The two people who weren’t transported to hospitals said that they were okay at the scene and didn’t need further evaluation, a police spokesperson said.
Of the nine transported to the hospital, two of the patients have potentially life-threatening injuries
ATCEMS confirmed that they received a call about the incident around 8.18pm.
A witness told KVUE that he saw a white pick-up truck speeding Westbound and estimated he was going about 85 miles per hour, which is well above the speed limit.
He said it sounded “like an explosion, like a bomb.”
The collision occurred at 1800 Barton Springs Rd, authorities say.
Police said the roads weren’t slippery or dangerous because of any weather, but that it was just a “normal Friday night in the ATX.”
Reports from local media outlets say that the area is a “food truck park.”
No fatalities have been reported yet.
The investigation is still ongoing.
