A MUM who allegedly rolled her Range Rover into a group of Insulate Britain protesters has denied assault and dangerous driving.
Defiant Sherrilyn Speid, 34, from Grays, Essex, is accused of nudging her car into eco-warriors sitting in the road while she was on the school run with her son.
She was charged last month over the October incident, but today pleaded not guilty to both charges against her.
Dressed in all black for her appearance before magistrates in Basildon, Speid spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth.
She allegedly drove her £80,000 SUV into Insulate Britain activist Bethany Mogie, 39, in frustration at the delay in getting her 11-year-old lad to his lessons.
The serial demonstrator who plonked herself in the middle of the road in Purfleet, near the Dartford Crossing, faces no action, despite breaching a government injunction.
Speid is accused of assault and dangerous driving and could be jailed for six months or given an unlimited fine.
At the time, the mum told GB News: “I was absolutely fuming they were in the road blocking me from taking my son to school.
“How dare they have the audacity to do that?”
She also said: “I think it’s disgusting that they were stopping working class people from getting to work and their kids to school and now they’re trying to prosecute a single mum.”
Mogie, and the rest of the eco mob, were eventually moved on, but Speid’s usual 10-minute trip ending up taking 45 and she and son Terrel were both late.
A video – filmed by another person at the protest – appears to show Speid driving her vehicle into the back of two protesters, described previously as a “nudge”.
At today’s short court appearance, she was granted unconditional bail ahead of the next hearing in March.
Speid, who was accompanied by a friend, posed for waiting photographers as she left the building.
