A FUMING mum ignored by Evri when the parcel delivery firm lost her son’s birthday present landed a job interview there to confront bosses.

Tanya Fuller, 30, was gutted when the courier firm – previously Hermes – failed to deliver the £45 electronic story reader she ordered for Parker, two, then claimed there was no trace of it.

Tanya Fuller was furious when the company failed to deliver a £45 electronic story reader for her son’s birthday

After being stone-walled by the company – plagued by accusations of poor customer service – the mum-of-two found the online application to become a driver.

She watched two 1-mins 30seconds videos then filled in a form on the Evri app with her name, age, and driving licence details.

Tanya also had to confirm her right to work in the UK and that she had no unspent criminal convictions, and detailed her previous work experience and her availability to deliver parcels.

She bagged an interview with someone calling her by phone two days later – but used it to confront the company’s stunned delivery manager.

The missing Toniebox gift was found and re-sent in just two hours – making it in time for her toddler’s birthday.

Carer Tanya, of Stevenage, Herts, said: “It was Parker’s main present so I was gutted when it failed to show up.

“There was no movement on the Evri parcel tracker for four days and I assumed they must have misplaced it.

“I’d read horror stories about them losing parcels and I began panicking.

“I just went round in circles on the Evri website and couldn’t find a human being to talk to.

“It was just a chat robot. I kept just getting an automated message, saying ‘You’re package will be delivered’.

“I was calling the number on their website and it was ringing for two rings then cutting off. It was a nightmare.

“I even emailed the CEO, but got no response – so I googled how to apply for a job and applied to be a delivery driver.

“I put my real name and number – and all my real details and they called me.

“I thought applying for a job was the only way I’d get through to someone – and I was right. It’s shocking I had to go to those lengths.

“The next day the manager phoned me for the interview. I just ambushed him, telling him straight away, ‘I want my parcel – I want to speak to a human’.

“At first he said ‘well done for tricking me’ and asked for the order number. To be fair to him, he was very good and things started moving two hours later.

“He texted me with updates on the delivery and it turned up the next day – as if by magic.”

Hilariously Evri continued to pursue Tanya – hoping to persuade her to become a driver.

She added: “I’m not at all tempted. It’s not for me.

“All that matters is I’ve got my little boy’s present in time for his birthday.

“I would recommend anyone else in the same position do the same thing.”

Tonieboxes are speakers that play youngsters stories. Children can pick which tale they want to listen to by placing different play characters to top, which act as ‘keys’.

Tanya ordered the in-demand product on August 28. It was collected by Evri on September 9 and was due to be delivered to her within three days of the courier receiving it.

When there was no sign of the gift by September 12 Tanya spent two days trying to get hold of a human to help her track it down.

When she was unable to make any progress, the determined mum applied for a driver job on September 14. She was called two days later on September 16.
