Alana Lindsay uses quite the unconventional approach to creating her masterpieces – such as projectile vomiting paint or throwing steaks at canvases.

But her wacky ways have allowed the 23-year-old to become an internet sensation, racking up a whopping 10million views on TikTok.

She took advantage of the video-sharing platform after Covid crippled her career plans when she completed her fine arts degree in June 2020.

The creative soon amassed 300,000 followers while showing how she swaps out her paintbrush for more bizarre tools, such as slabs of meat.

Alana’s first viral video of her quirky artwork racked up 900,000 views, allowing her to quit her job at a fast-food restaurant to become a full-time artist.

She told the Daily Post: “I woke up the next morning, and it was crazy.

“Over the next couple of days, I gained 20k followers and it was a constant stream of comments and likes and follows.

“I also made my very first sale – a contemporary, abstract and grotesque painting of eyes for £150.

“It felt surreal that people were talking about my art. It seemed odd seeing people say they liked my work, because I always thought it was weird.”

The 23-year-old incredibly earned £30,000 in her first year pursuing her passions – defying the odds after being rejected by exhibitions.

Alana’s unique artistic process predominantly involves the use of “soft sculptures” – which she makes by hand using cloth, foam rubber, plastic, paper and fibres.

Her distinctive vibe is inspired by fantasy and horror, meaning the majority of her paintings feature gory objects or figures.

One of her most popular methods involves her attaching a large tentacle to her head – which she calls her ‘Mask’ – dipping it in paint and thrashing it onto a canvas.

Another sees her donning a huge animal head while spewing paint out of its mouth – which has started some of her neighbours.

But her attention to detail remains unmatched, seeing her often delicately pen words either under or over the paint.

She now earns £10,000 a month in sales and boasts a string of international clients, all while still impressing her followers with her creative process on TikTok.

Alana explained: “Lots of people who have seen me in person find the way I create art really funny, or even terrifying.

“It’s actually meant to be serious and it’s a real technique, but most people wonder what the hell is going on.

‘DREAM COME TRUE’

“I try to explain it’s about regression and making something purely from impulse, which allows me to act in a somewhat childlike way.

“I was being rejected by all the exhibitions and I took it really hard, which I think really reflected in my work. I took out a lot of anger on my paintings.”

Alana hailed her legion of supporters for allowing her to live her “dream come true” and earn an income from her social media accounts.

She added: “I can’t believe I am where I am today. I thought I’d probably manage for four or five months and eventually look for a day job.

“It would have been a nightmare. It’s incredible to be able to do this as my job, it’s a dream come true.

“I never thought anyone would like my art, as it’s strange and it’s a bit scary, but to see so many people connect with it is amazing.

“There are people all over the world who enjoy my art and that fills me with so much joy.”
