REPORTS are coming in that an individual has been apprehended at the Joint Base Andrew military facility following a lockdown after Vice President Kamala Harris left.
Another individual is believed to be at large after two men, one believed to have been carrying a weapon got out of an SUV and ran past security gates.
According to local reporters at the scene of the base where Air Force One takes off from, guards stopped a shuttle of reporters to check the van.
NPR White House correspondent Scott Detrow said he was told the base was on lockdown “due to reports of an active shooter.”
Detrow and another reporter are in a shuttle van that is being held because of the situation.
“The soldier who searched tells us this is a confirmed armed individual but no shots fired,” wrote Detrow.
“But again this is from someone who just came on our shuttle, not an official statement.”
Zeke Miller, a White House reporter from AP, tweeted that White House officials announced that all Cabinet members are either safe or off the base.
Multiple helicopters are flying around the base, according to reporters who are still being held during the lockdown. Cars are also be detoured away from the area.
