A MAN has been killed and eaten by a lion after breaking into a zoo to try and steal a cub.
The beast – believed to be the cub’s mother – attacked the man after he scaled the zoo’s fence.

He was spotted around Accra Zoo, Ghana, on Sunday around 12pm, reports Joy Online.
In a failed bid to steal a cub, the intruder was pounced upon by the lions and devoured, it is understood.
Benito Owusu Bio, deputy minister for lands and natural resources said: “The lions have cubs so if you come too close they may feel you are trying to take away their babies.
“We ask the public to desist from doing anything like this.”

The motive of the intruder is yet to be confirmed.
Cops were called to the scene to clear the body away as investigations got underway,
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that the lion, lioness and two cubs are safe and remain secure at the zoo.
And the Commission was also keen to stress that no lion escaped from the zoo as a result of the incident.

Cops are working with the zoo as they investigate.
The police statement said: “After the necessary forensic examination of the scene, the body was removed and has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
“The police are working with the management of the zoo and the forestry commission to get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident.”
