A SOLDIER weighing more than 30 stone has been sacked from the Army after failing fitness tests.
The obese squaddie could not be deployed on operations or fit into body armour.
He is one of around 25 military personnel medically discharged between 2019 and 2021 after being classified as morbidly obese.
The Ministry of Defence figures came from a Freedom of Information request.
One source said: “You can’t have a 30 stone soldier. He will be a liability to himself and his colleagues.
“There is also a problem with boozing in the evenings which adds to the problem of obesity.”
The MoD stats also show more than 45,000 personnel were classified as overweight in the last two years and more than 1,000 had high blood pressure.
Hundreds have received lipo-suction to get rid of their flab.
Col Richard Kemp, a former commander in Afghanistan, said: “These soldiers must have gained this weight while serving. This is a failure of leadership.”
