A MUM whose adopted son was so badly abused that his legs had to be amputated said she’s “sickened” that Baby P’s killer mum may be released.

Paula Hudgell, 53, fostered and then adopted little Tony after he suffered physical trauma and multiple limb fractures as a baby – leaving him without his limbs.

The woman – who is now a child cruelty campaigner – has now slammed the move to let Baby P’s mum Tracey Connelly out of prison as “shocking and sickening.”

Connelly, 40, was set to be freed within weeks after winning her fourth bid for parole.

The monster was given a minimum of five years in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of 17-month-old Peter

Hudgell told the Mirror: “Connelly should never be freed.

“This case horrified and outraged the nation and no one will ever forget how that poor boy was tortured by his mother, her paedophile boyfriend and his brother.”

Tony’s birth parents Tony Smith and Jody Simpson were jailed for 10 years in 2018 for the abuse they inflicted on the tot.

They are expected to be released on parole this August.

At six weeks old, Tony developed organ failure and sepsis meaning he needed both legs amputated

“Vile creatures like Connelly and those who left my son at death’s door should never be released, let alone allowed near any children ever again.”

Connelly was recalled to jail in 2015 for selling nude pictures of herself online.

But officials had ruled that she’s finally fit for freedom after weighing up the level of risk she poses to the public.

It means she was set to be walking the streets later this spring, and will be able to enjoy summer from her own home.

She had previously lost bids for release in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

She was released in 2013 and put on a lifelong licence – meaning she could be recalled to prison at any point for any breach.

But in February 2015 we revealed how she had tried to cash in on her appalling crimes by flogging nude snaps to perverts online, and was recalled.

She went before the Parole Board back in October 2021, and was told she wouldn’t be free in time for Christmas after the decision was delayed.

MONSTER FREED

A source said the case is so “emotive” that more information was requested on her psychological assessments before a decision was reached.

The death of Peter in August 2007 shocked Britain – and led a storm of protest from the public at how the little one had slipped through the net.

By the time of his death, the toddler had suffered at least 50 horrific injuries.

He was on Haringey Council’s at risk register.

However, despite 60 visits from medics, police and social workers, the system failed him.

His lifeless body was found in a blood-spattered cot in a grim house in Tottenham, North London, where Connelly lived with her sadistic partner, Steven Barker, now 45.

The pair also lived with Barker’s brother, Jason Owen, who had changed his name years earlier.

Owen was ultimately jailed for six years for his part in Peter’s death, while Barker got a minimum of 12 years.

He remains in prison after his parole bid was turned down last March.

Owen, 49, is back in the community again.

All three were sentenced in May 2009.

As well as being convicted for his role in Peter’s death, Barker’s sickening interest in children was exposed when he was convicted for raping a girl aged two.
