A TIKTOKER took to social media to share her thoughts about Airbnb fees and it’s going viral while leading to much discussion.
Lifestyle and fashion creator Melissa (@melworeit) was looking at Airbnb listings while doing research for an upcoming vacation with her husband.
One of the listings had some strange requirements that Melissa just had to share with her followers.
“It does have a $125 cleaning fee as most Airbnbs do, and I don’t have a problem with that, but this is what I do have a problem with,” Melissa said to her over 7,000 followers.
“In addition to that $125 cleaning fee, we ask that you remove garbage, fine, remove bed linens, fine, start the dishwasher and a load of laundry.
“Now, maybe this is entitlement, or privilege talking, however, if I’m paying $229 a night to stay somewhere plus $125 cleaning fee, I‘m not doing any f**king laundry. Full stop. I know it’s like one load of laundry, it will take me like two minutes to do, but it’s the principle that really bothers me.”
The TikTok video raked over 33,000 views and 2,000 comments with many agreeing with Melissa and pointing out that if someone pays a cleaning fee, they shouldn’t have to do more cleaning than what’s considered a courtesy, such as taking out the garbage.
“Hotels do all that for me and don’t charge me an extra fee,” wrote one commenter.

“I 100% agree,” wrote another.
“Hosts forget that they are providing a service, and not doing guests a favor. I think they forget that because it’s their own house.”
On the other hand, others felt that what the listing asked wasn’t that big of a deal.
“It’s not asking you to do the laundry,” wrote a commenter.
“It’s asking you to throw some towels in the washer and start it. Not a big deal.”
“Are you cleaning the toilets?” wrote another commenter.
“Are you vacuuming? Are you scrubbing the shower? Who is doing the flip. So you pressed start on the dishwasher…”
