A MUM was left furious when her daughter’s long hair was cut off when kids hacked at her locks after teachers “left them unsupervised.”

Chantel Brown, 25, was stunned when four-year-old Hallie came home from nursery with HALF the hair on her head cut off by another pupil.

The mum-of-two from Aberdeen, Scotland, said that the nursery called and said there had been a “minor” incident where Hallie’s hair had been “snipped.”

But she was stunned to find half of Hallie’s golden hair had been lobbed off – leaving her locks completely uneven.

It’s believed the main teacher at Brimmond School’s nursery had been out of the classroom and in meetings all day – and there were a handful of other staff members in the room with the kids.

At some point, Hallie and three other kids were “hiding” in the nursery and one pupil started cutting the other’s hair.

Pictures show how the four-year-old’s long locks were cut off in a “zig-zag” pattern with the “blunt” nursery scissors – making Chantel believe the kids were missing for a while.

But the mum has slammed the staff for not noticing the missing children – and for “downplaying” the issue when it was raised.

Chantel said the ordeal was less about her daughter’s hair and more about what could have happened as the tots were “left unsupervised” with the scissors.

Furious Chantel told The Sun Online: “On Wednesday afternoon I received a phone call to say that there had been an incident at the nursery, where Hallie’s hair had been cut by another child.

“I was told that the main teacher was out of the room, and had been in meetings all day, so she didn’t notice.

“On the phone, it was described as if it was a minor incident at the arts and crafts table, and that it was only a little snip.

“It wasn’t a little snip, half of her hair is missing. She’s got hair down to her bum almost, and now half of it is at her shoulders.

“I’m very very upset with the other teachers. I’ve worked in nurseries myself – you notice when four children are missing. That’s not on.”

According to Chantel, the kids are allowed to access scissors while at nursery, but they must be supervised while handling sharp objects.

But she claims that none of the adults had realised the kids were chopping each other’s hair in the classroom as they “weren’t being supervised.”

The 25-year-old said: “The scissors are kept in different areas of the classroom and outside, I was told they picked it up and ran and hid behind something, and no one noticed them doing it.

“When handling sharp objects, they’re supposed to be supervised. And they were not supervised.

“She probably thought she was just playing hairdressers with her friends.

“But no adult had seen that four children had been hiding and disappearing with scissors and that their hair was all cut.”

Chantel said that she was most worried about what could have happened – as there could have been a serious accident involving the kids’ eyes or face.

The mum also said the nursery didn’t give them or sign an incident form either following the scissors ordeal.

She added: “It’s not about the hair, I don’t care about the hair, it will grow back.

LOBBED OFF

“It’s the fact that it’s not just my child – three other children had their hair cut.

“It could have been a lot worse. It could have been her eye, her face, she could have cut herself.”

And the mum-of-two believes the “neglectful” staff must have not noticed the kids were missing for a while – because it wouldn’t have been easy to chop off so much hair.

The 25-year-old added: “Nursery scissors are pretty blunt, so it would have been a fair amount of time they would have left for, for the hair that was chopped from my child’s head alone.

“Half her hair on her head has come off, you can tell it’s more than one snip because it’s zig-zagged a little bit.

“It goes up higher in certain areas. There have been a good few snips.”

Brimmond School and Nursery have been contacted for comment.
