Estridge, who will have a lung transplant in November 2020, recently had a lung infection that his family believes he will not be able to survive. He obtained the transplant to cure his incurable lung illness, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

His entire life had been spent in the the-building industry, going through some spectacular ups and downs. Last year, he was selected to the first class of IBJ’s Indiana 250, a ranking of Indiana’s most important business executives.

Estridge firms have constructed over 9,000 houses in central Indiana since 1967. In the early 2000s, the firm had 150 full-time employees and made hundreds of homes yearly.

The Great Recession took a heavy toll on The Estridge Group and other builders. The Greater Indianapolis Builders Association claims that Central Indiana housing permits plummeted from 13,202 in 2005 to 3,720 in 2010.

Centennial, a 1,100-home complex in Westfield built by Estridge’s business between 1998 and 2010, was one of his finest accomplishments. More than 12,000 trees were planted in one community. Along with the dwellings, there is a custom-built church.

In addition to his wife, Paul Estridge Jr. has children and grandkids left behind. Mary Ellen McIntyre (Coleman), Elyse Harvey (Scott), Joshua Estridge, his grandchildren Cashel Timothy McIntyre, Amos Paul McIntyre, and Ruth Rose Harvey.

Estridge’s wife and children were a constant source of love and support for him, and he often spoke about the importance of family in his life. He was a loving Father, husband, and grandpa. His loss is deeply felt by those who knew and loved him.

Paul Estridge was a wealthy businessman and real estate developer with a fortune ranging from $400 million to $500 million.

Estridge Jr. grew the firm for 15 years but was forced to stop it after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in September 2011, unable to recover from the recession’s home-building catastrophe. This year, he re-entered the home-building sector with a project in Westfield.

Both Estridges sold their interests six years after becoming dissatisfied with the firm, according to Estridge Jr. The politics of dealing with politicians, the state, and the gaming commission were too much for Estridge Jr.
