Another movie premiere has been called off due to COVID-19.
The upcoming Los Angeles premiere of Peacemaker has been cancelled by HBO Max as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the city, according to Deadline.
Cases have been rising at a dramatic rate in the West Coast city as of late, but the decision to cancel the event was made prior to the holidays, reports the site.

The decision was made out of an abundance of caution amid surging COVID cases.
The Peacemaker premiere is just the latest event to be scraped on account of the virus.
The 2022 Palm Springs International Film Festival, which was set to occur January 7 to 17, was cancelled in light of the current surge.
A red carpet premiere was also scheduled last month for the upcoming film Cyrano, but that too was postponed ‘out of an abundance of caution given the changing COVID landscape,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Instead of the glitzy premiere, a screening of the film was set to move forward where COVID protocols ‘including proof of vaccination [and] proof of negative test within 48 hours of the screening’ would be observed.
Attendees were required to wear masks except when eating or consuming beverages.
The upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker is set to premiere on the streaming service on January 13.

Peacemaker is the first DC Extended Universe television series.
The Suicide Squad director James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the spin-off series during the COVID-10 pandemic and also directed five of the episodes.
Peacemaker also stars Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma and Chukwudi Iwuji.
Brad Anderson, Jody Hill and Rosemary Rodriguez also directed an episode each.
