ONE person is dead and a suspect remains on the loose after a shooting inside the PG Mall in Hyattsville, Maryland.

A manhunt is underway as the suspect remains on the loose.

The incident occurred around 6.30pm local time. This is not an active shooter situation, according to WUSA9.

Police are seeking a suspect and possibly two others, according to KUTV.

No other injuries have been reported.

The mall has been evacuated and remains closed.

Both the Hyattsville Police Department and the Prince Georges County Police Department are responding to the scene.

Reports indicate the shooting took place inside the mall near Macy’s.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Three individuals who work at the mall told WUSA they were worried by the incident.

“Everybody just ran to the back,” one mall employee said, noting that her store had an emergency room where people took refuge.

Multiple reports indicate a heavy police presence remains at the mall this evening.

The PG Mall, also known as The Mall at Prince George’s, is home to nearly 100 shops, restaurants, and retailers.

The mall is mere minutes from the University of Maryland, College Park campus.
