PRISONERS will be let out to pull pints under new ministerial plans.
Lags on day release can learn new skills in boozers to help them get a job and reduce chances of reoffending.
Deputy PM Dominic Raab will change the law to allow those in open prisons to apply for so-called prisoner apprenticeships.
They will be able to work in hospitality, including in Greene King pubs, on building sites and other vital industries.
Research last year found that nine out of ten businesses which hired ex-offenders said they were reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
But dangerous and violent cons will not be given the same opportunity.
Mr Raab said: “Getting offenders into work offers them a second chance to lead a more positive life and stay on the straight and narrow.
“Breaking the cycle of crime is critical to our mission to drive down reoffending, cut crime and protect the public.”
The law will be changed within months to allow those on day release or nearing end of sentences to apply.
