ROYAL Mail workers will walk out in yet another strike this month after a union demanded posties get better pay and conditions.

In a statement on Wednesday, the CWU said: “We have today called a further two days [of strike action] on 30th September and 1st October over attacks on terms and conditions.”
Terry Pullinger, Deputy General Secretary (Postal) of the CWU, said staff “like never before” are angry about pay and conditions in Royal Mail.
And he added how “98.7 percent” of members had voted to strike after rejecting an “imposed” 2 percent pay rise.
Royal Mail said on Wednesday strike action had weakened its financial position.

It comes as the 506-year-old postal service revealed they are losing more than £1 million a day.
In a statement, Royal Mail said: “The CWU’s approach is setting us on a perilous path.
“We remain ready to talk with the CWU to try and avert damaging industrial action.

“But any talks must be about both change and pay. Change is the route to higher pay.”
The CWU had turned down a request to call off this week’s strikes, it added.
Around 115,000 postal workers are already due to take industrial action on Thursday and Friday following a similar walkout last month.

It is billed as one of Britain’s biggest strikes this summer.
The CWU represents people working for telephone, cable, digital subscriber line and postal delivery companies.
