Tennis star Novak Djokovic has slammed Australia over its Covid-19 vaccine mandates, a month after he was booted out of the country.
The world number one has broken his silence about his Australian Open visa saga as he opened up about why decided to not get the jab in a tell-all interview with the BBC.
‘I was never against vaccination but I’ve always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body,’ he said.
‘I was never against vaccination. I understand that globally, everyone is trying to put a big effort into handling this virus and seeing, hopefully, an end soon to this virus.’
The 20-time grand slam champion also revealed he’d be willing to miss future tournaments than be forced to get the Covid jab.
‘Yes, that is the price that I’m willing to pay,’ he said.
