THREE people have been killed after a van driving down the wrong way down a motorway crashed into a taxi as a teen boy is arrested.
West Yorkshire Police said they’ve arrested 15-year-old boy on suspicion of causing deaths by dangerous driving following the collision in Bradford.
Officers were called to a serious collision involving a van and taxi at 10.45pm last night on the M606.
Two men, aged 29 and 49, in the taxi were pronounced dead at the scene while an 18-year-old male passenger in the van died in hospital this morning.
Among them were Simon McHugh from Bradford and taxi driver Sohail Ali.
Another passenger, a 17-year-old boy, is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The teen boy driver is currently in hospital with minor injuries.
Due to the nature of the incident West Yorkshire Police has informed the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Images from the crash site show the taxi on a tow truck with its front engine compete ripped clean from the car.
Feet away from it is the blue van, which sustained serious damage to its front after smashing into a hard shoulder.
According to LeedsLive, the van used by the teens is understood to have been stolen.
The van reportedly crashed head-on with a taxi neat to the Chain Bar roundabout between junctions one and three.
The motorway was closed for several hours while police conducted an an accident investigation.
