ANIMAL trainer Doc Antle has been booked into the Horry County jail after being arrested by the FBI.
Antle, real name Mahamayavi Bhagavan Antle, gained fame after being featured on the Netflix documentary series Tiger King.
The 62-year-old, who owns Myrtle Beach Safari in Horry County, does not have any charges listed currently and a mugshot is not yet available as of 6:30pm Friday.
Antle has faced criticism over the years for his business operations due to the multiple celebrity visits at his facility.
He was indicted in Virginia for felony wildlife trafficking in October 2020 after an investigation found evidence that he trafficked lion cubs between South Carolina and Virginia.
“I am terribly shocked and disappointed at the charges that have been filed against me by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and how they have sought to involve my daughters in this matter,” Antle told TMZ at the time.
“I categorically deny any act or conduct that could ever be considered as ‘animal cruelty.’”
At this time, there is no indication that Antle’s arrest has anything to do with his previous indictment.
