FORECASTERS have predicted the exact date temperatures will hit a glorious 21C as Brits are set to flock to the beach in droves.

The mercury is set to soar later this week to provide a real taste of summer – and make the country hotter than Ibiza.

So make sure you secure a good sunbathing spot on Thursday, as the heat will rival some of Europe’s holiday hotspots.

Conditions will be warmer than Saint-Tropez in France, and Crete in Greece – but meteorologists warned not to expect “wall-to-wall sunshine”.

The South East of England will revel in the best of the sunshine, with dry and sunny spells predicted for the rest of the country.

But those in the north and west have been warned of rain or showers as the weekend rolls in, before the weather settles down again.

The high temperatures are then expected to continue into Friday and roll over into the weekend, as the month of May shakes off its damp start.

Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “This week is a funny old one.

“There’s a far bit of rain and cloud around as well as sunny spells, with many areas gradually warming up until Thursday, which should be the warmest day.

“Between Monday and Wednesday temperatures will sit in the high teens and low 20s in Wales and central and southern parts of the England, while eastern Scotland could reach 19C (66.2F).

“But in parts of Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland there will be cloud and some scattered showers.

“Thursday will see high teens quite widely across the country, parts of the South East will rise as high as 21C (69.8F), with an outside chance of 22C (71.6F) in areas where there is more sunshine.

“So there’s a warm spell in store for many but don’t expect the wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies we saw in April.”

It comes ahead of an expected sizzler for the Queen’s Jubilee, with temperatures potentially reaching highs of 30C.

Heatwave conditions will also hit in the run up to the four-day Bank Holiday bonanza, helping sun-starved Brits celebrate the Queen’s mighty achievement in style.

Weather maps show the UK burning a deep orange over the celebratory period – and meteorologists reckon the mercury could top 30C in some parts.

The Met Office is also forecasting hotter-than-normal temperatures across the three months from April to the end of June.
