Following last week’s historic heatwave, temperatures have cooled off across the country in recent days.

While it won’t reach the record setting 40C, Brits can expect today to pick back up again as the mercury could reach a toasty 30C.

A bright start to the day will see temps in the high teens for most of the country.

But warm front sweeping in from France throughout the day will turn the heat up across the South East.

By the afternoon, those in London, Norfolk and Peterborough will bask in temperatures nearing 30C.

Further north, Manchester and Newcastle can expect highs of around 21C, although they may be hit with some showers.

It will be bright and sunny for beach-goers along the south coast with the mercury topping out around 22C.

Wales will also be mostly clear and cool, reaching around 20C in Cardiff and Swansea.

But it won’t be all sunny skies to end the week, with a storm expected to ruin the sunbathing plans of those from Belfast to Glasgow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for the area, with heavy showers and thunderstorms likely to cause travel chaos and flooding.
