HEAVY rain, thunder, and even lightning is set to batter the UK today.

The Met Office reports that heavy rain will be present across much of the country, with the south east experiencing thunder.

The news comes as health bosses issued an urgent warning to Brits to stay safe on Friday as a scorching 32C heatwave gripped the nation.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), along with the Met Office issued a Level 3 heat-health alert across London, East of England and the South East.

It meant the Met Office’s threshold for a heatwave in all three regions had been met – and healthcare services were on high alert to help high-risk groups.

This heat led to widespread disruptions across the country, as the hot weather caused CHAOS for essential services.

The scorching weather has quickly faded, however, leaving a forecast of rain in its wake.
