Who is Maya Millete’s husband Larry?

On October 19, 2021, Larry Millete was arrested for the murder of his missing wife, Maya.

He was taken custody in his home at 11 am where police say he was alone.

The Chula Vista Police Department held a joint press conference at 3.30pm the same afternoon to discuss details further, with Maya’s friends and family in attendance.

During the press conference, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan revealed a second charge being made against Larry, regarding illegal possession of assault weapons.

Additionally, a missing 40 caliber gun belonging to Larry remains missing.

Stephan also confirmed that Maya’s body has yet to be located.

Larry was taken into custody and is being held without bail with an arraignment scheduled for October 21 at the South Bay courthouse.

Stephan revealed that prior to going missing, Maya had called a divorce attorney on January 7, 2021, a call that Larry was aware of.

During the time of the couple’s disagreement regarding divorce, Stephan stated that Larry was messaging spellcasters requesting that harm come upon Maya.

According to Yahoo Sports, the trailer was released on February 17, 2022, and shows interviews with Millete’s friends, her sister Maricris, and her brother-in-law.

The segment will focus on the ongoing search for Maya Millete and will home in on the days leading up to her disappearance.

The 48 Hours special, Searching for Maya Millete, will air on February 19, 2022, at 10pm EST on CBS and Paramount+.

When did Maya go missing?

On January 9, 2021, Maya was officially reported missing.

She was last seen on January 7, 2021, when she spoke to her family from her home in Paseo Los Gatos in San Diego County.

Her brother went to her home to try and locate her but she was not there despite all her belongings and cars still being at the house.

Maya’s phone was also left remaining in her San Miguel ranch neighborhood and her sister later reported her missing.

She had not been seen since two days prior when she was last seen in South Bay.

They report it as an active and ongoing investigation and ask for the public’s help in locating Maya’s body.

Police searched the home and vehicles on the 10th and 11th, and on the 12th, Larry allegedly told officers he feared for his wife’s safety.

On January 21, 2021, Maya’s family reportedly hired a private investigator.

Someone in her family anonymously told Fox News that Maya allegedly told them “If anything happened to me, it would be Larry.”

What are Larry Millete’s charges?

Millete was charged in October 2021 with the first-degree murder of his wife, Maya Millete, and felony possession of an assault weapon.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges in the initial hearing and a Chula Vista judge ordered Millete to be held without bail in November 2021.

A preliminary exam readiness hearing, which is the initial hearing for the judge to hear the case, is set for 1.30pm on February 28, 2022.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8:30am on April 14, 2022, and if he is found guilty of first-degree murder he will face 25 years to life in prison.

The charge of felony possession of an assault weapon will have a maximum sentence of three years in prison if he is convicted.

Why did Larry Millete become a person of interest?

In February of 2021, police claimed Larry was no longer cooperating in the investigation.

He reportedly hired a lawyer at the time.

After months of searching the local areas to no avail, there was a rally outside of the Chula Vista police department on May 4th, demanding more transparency in the case.

On May 5th, a gun violence restraining order was issued for Larry Milette.

In June, the restraining order case was delayed for another three months.

Following three instances of search warrants at the couple’s home, police named Larry Millete a person of interest on July 22, 2021.

Maya’s brother-in-law, Richard Drouaillet, last saw her just days before she went missing and according to him, the couple’s marriage was plagued with problems.
