Who is Van Taylor?

Aside from being a congressman, Taylor has many other accomplishments on his resume.

He was born on August 1, 1972 in Dallas, TX and is now 49 years old.

He studied at Harvard University for both his undergraduate and business school education.

Taylor is also a seventh generation Texan, businessman, and decorated Iraq War Veteran.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history before attending business school.

Taylor also received a commission in the United States Marine Corps.

In 2003, he deployed to Iraq where he fought with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company.

In 2010 he began to serve his home state of Texas representing District 66 in the Texas House of Representatives until 2015.

From January 13, 2015 – January 3, 2019, Taylor served as a Member of the Texas Senate, representing the Eighth Senate District of Texas.

Most recently, on January 3, 2019, he was sworn in as a Member of the United States Congress, representing Texas Third Congressional District.

Is Van Taylor married?

The veteran and politician has been married since he returned from the Iraq war, the date is not known.

He is married to his wife Anne, with whom he has had three daughters.

Anne and Van share have welcomed daughters Laura, Helen, and Susie together.

Why did he end his reelection campaign?

On March 1, 2022 news broke about Van Taylor’s extramarital affair.

He wrote an email to his supporters about the affair the day after ending his reelection campaign.

“About a year ago, I made a horrible mistake that has caused deep hurt and pain among those I love most in this world,” Taylor wrote, according to Texas Tribune.

“I had an affair, it was wrong, and it was the greatest failure of my life. I want to apologize for the pain I have caused with my indiscretion, most of all to my wife Anne and our three daughters.”

Taylor finished his five-way primary with 49% of the vote.

The news to end his reelection campaign came as Taylor was forced into a primary runoff amid 11th-hour allegations of infidelity.

Former Collin County Judge Keith Self, who finished second, is now likely to become the next congressman for the 3rd District.
