A WOMAN and her husband were found dead inside a parked car on January 24, from an apparent murder-suicide.
The family of Amanda Calo, 31, said that she was on the verge of leaving her partner at the time of her death.

Who was Amanda Calo?
Chicago Police confirmed that at 1:40 pm on January 24, a pedestrian discovered two bodies on the 11000 block of South Avenue E.
One of the deceased was later identified as local schoolteacher and mother of two Amanda Calo.
Her heartbroken godmother and local councillor, Susan Sadlowski-Garza, described her as the “most amazing young woman.”
“She helped mentor kids on the wrong path,’ she said.
“Everyone loved Amanda.”

According to loves ones, Ms Calo taught at Matthew Gallistel Learning Academy and worked in after-school programs, community gardens and the violence prevention group Safe Kids Chicago.
The school’s principal Kimberly Nelson released a statement after her death.
“Our thoughts are with Ms. Alvarez’s family during this difficult time,” she said.
‘We are so saddened by this loss and will do everything we can to help you and your child during this extremely difficult time.”
What happened to Amanda Calo?
State police confirmed that both Amanda and her husband Antonio died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head.
Amanda’s death has since been ruled a homicide, while her husband’s cause of death was deemed to be self inflicted, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A gun was also recovered at the scene, Chicago police said, adding they are not searching for any further suspects.

Who was Antonio Alvarez?
The authorities also confirmed that victim Antonio Alverez was a three-year veteran of the Illinois State Police.
They believe he allegedly took his own life before the life of his wife Amanda.
Despite being married, the pair were going through relationship issues and were separated, family members told ABC7.
The couple leave behind two young children, a 4-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter.
On January 25, a GoFundMe page was created in memory of Amanda Calo and to support her family.
At the time of writing, it has raised over $88,000.
