YOU can make your iPhone read out the name of whoever’s calling you.
It works through Siri and means you can find out who’s giving you a bell without needing to look at your phone’s display.
The Announce Calls feature on iPhone was introduced in 2016 with the release of iOS 10.
It was recently highlighted in a viral TikTok video posted by the user @marlonwireless.
When enabled, Apple’s virtual assistant Siri will “speak” the name of the contact calling you.
If you don’t have the person’s number stored in your contacts, Sir will read their number aloud.
You can then decide whether you want to answer without having to look at your device.
The feature is helpful when driving or otherwise away from your phone and are unable to look at its display.
To try it out for yourself, head to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Calls.
You can then decide when Siri should announce callers, such as only when you’re using headphones.

If you would like names or numbers to be read out every time someone calls, select Always.
Apple in March gave iPhone users the option to select a gender-neutral voice for Siri.
When selected, Siri is less explicitly male- or female-sounding than the two options could previously choose from.
The move is part of Apple’s push to make its voice-activated helper, which it launched in 2011, more inclusive.
The company says the new voice was recorded by a member of the LGBTQ+ community, although it didn’t offer further details.
“We’re excited to introduce a new Siri voice for English speakers, giving users more options to choose a voice that speaks to them,” Apple said.
“Millions of people around the world rely on Siri every day to help get things done, so we work to make the experience feel as personalized as possible.”
The voice was introduced with iOS 15.4.
