THE timeline for Apple’s virtual reality headset has been revealed by an industry insider with a proven record of accurate insights.

Apple’s headset will be presented to the public before it’s actually on the market, reports claim.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has slowed the production of virtual reality hardware, according to tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Meta has focused on fleshing out concepts like virtual currency and digital collectibles.

Other companies like Sony and Microsoft have begun developing headsets for metaverse exploration.

But Kuo predicts Apple will go public with their headset in January 2023 and fundamentally transform the industry.

“After Apple launches AR/MR headset, I think Apple’s global rivals will compete to imitate it, leading the headset hardware industry to the next stage of rapid growth,” Kuo wrote in a Medium post.

Kuo is reiterating the idea that Apple won’t indulge in a fully immersive virtual reality experience and instead produce an augmented reality or mixed reality headset.

The theory is consistent with statements made by Apple CEO Tim Cook.

The Economist quoted Cook saying “There are clearly some cool niche things for VR. But it’s not profound in my view. AR is profound.”

The hype surrounding the metaverse has people and companies scrambling for fear of being left behind.

Business Insider even profiled a former Amazon Vice President who left the e-commerce giant for a Web3 start-up.

The former Amazon executive said, “Everything fit together and I came to a conclusion — I didn’t want to be left out of the next technological evolutions as it was created.”

Almost 40 companies including Microsoft, Meta, and Epic Games have come together to form the Metaverse Standards Forum so that growth is stable, ethical, and interoperable.

Apple was noticeably absent from the new coalition.

However, Kuo suggests, Apple has no reason to jump in head first.

“Apple is an industry leader with significant competitive advantages and doesn’t need to join the Metaverse Standards Forum now,” he added in his Medium post.

When Steve Jobs was leading Apple, his philosophy was that they would design products that users did not yet know they needed.

Apple imposes itself on industries rather than being guided by markets – their eventual venture into the metaverse will likely be no different and insiders agree.
