IPHONE fans have been warned that iOS apps are about to cost you more.

Apple is changing the pricing structure in several countries next month, with much of Europe heavily affected.

Countries that use the euro will now see the lowest possible price tag rise from €0.99 to €1.19.

Meanwhile, an app that currently costs €9.99 will shoot up to €11.99.

The hike will affect paid-for apps in the App Store and in-app purchases as well.

Apple sets the rules on how much developers can charge for their apps, breaking them down into different tiers.

Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden and Vietnam are among the list of places that will also see prices go up.

Fortunately the UK and the US have been spared this time round, but experts aren’t confident it’ll last for long.

“The strong dollar is causing havoc with pricing of many consumer electronics products, and it seems Apple has decided the impact on the price of apps in its App Store now needs to be addressed in mainland Europe,” Ben Wood, chief analyst and CMO at CCS Insight, told The Sun.

“Sadly we don’t expect this to be an isolated trend and consumers should certainly be bracing themselves for other price rises given the current strength of the dollar versus the pound and the Euro.”

Paolo Pescatore, analyst at PP Foresight, said: “Unclear if and when price rises will come to the UK.

“Prices are all heading in the wrong direction; no one is immune, with consumers all feeling the pinch and tightening their belts.

“People will be forced to make some decisions over coming months on their devices, services and subscriptions.

“Some will downgrade, others cancel altogether.”

Apple – the world’s most valuable company – is planning to introduce the new prices from October 5.
