Perry told People that she enjoys a healthy diet. Back when preparing for her Super Bowl performance, for example, Perry said her diet included light soups, proteins, and whole grains. “Protein is important because it provides the amino acids your body needs to build and repair muscle,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Most research suggests very active people should eat 1.2 to 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. That means a 150-pound person should eat 82 to 136 grams each day. People who aren’t active should eat less protein. Aim for .8 grams per kilogram of body weight each day.”

Perry is a big fan of drinking apple cider vinegar, and she’s had this habit for a while. “My mother made me drink it every day, but now it’s a staple for me,” she said to Prevention. “Many people love apple cider vinegar as a conditioning rinse for your hair,” Julieanna Hever, MS, RD, CPT, a plant-based dietitian and author of The Vegiterranean Diet and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition, tells our sister site Eat This, Not That!. “Simply pour it over your hair in the shower after shampooing and it is touted for enhancing shine and cleaning off built-up product.”

Perry is a big fan of jumping rope, and says that it is a regular workout for her. She tells Us Weekly, “I like to jump rope! I can do the cross-over and double jumps.” “A jump rope is an often overlooked and underestimated fitness tool, despite its exceptional versatility. Jumping rope is a full-body cardio exercise that has many great benefits and is the perfect workout ‘filler.’ This means you can use jumping rope in between lifting weights or other exercises to keep your heart rate up and skip that long cardio session after your workout,” says ACE Fitness.

Perry admits to Us Weekly that she “has a salt tooth,” and craves unhealthy food at times. However, with the help with her trainer, Harley Pasternak, Perry finds healthier ways to enjoy her favorite cravings. “We find a healthier option,” she says to Us Weekly. “Toasted whole-grain bread crackers, such as rye Melba toast, are good sources of fiber and complex carbohydrates. Five pieces of Melba toast have about 97 calories,” says the Mayo Clinic.
