In the beginning, “The best in the world” was quite emotional and informed the audience that he had both good and bad news for them. He stated, “So, here’s the bad news. I’m injured and need surgery. A couple of things are broken. The biggest one is my heart, because I love nothing more than to perform for all of you. And I wanted to go on one hell of a run. That’s the bad news.”

He added, “The good news is, I can still do all that. I told you I was going to go till the wheels fall off, and the wheels are still there. They haven’t fallen off. It’s just that one of them happens to be broken. I’ve come back from worse. I’ve felt better than I feel today. But I’m also here to tell you that I’ve felt a hell of a lot worse.”

Although he is now injured, he stated that the comeback will be greater than the setback. However, it became a topic of discussion in the wrestling industry and elicited a wide range of opinions from fans.

The announcement of CM Punk prompted a wide range of reactions from fans

This announcement saddened one 37-year-old CM Punk fan who seemingly adores him a lot. He also claimed that he was on the verge of crying after hearing his news.

Similarly, another Punk fan expressed disappointment at Punk’s injuries, stating that he believes Punk is a genuine workhorse and wished him a speedy recovery.

In addition, one fan stated that “The voice of the voiceless” was one of his initial favorite wrestlers, and the guy that inspired him to start wrestling in 2013 claimed to be one fan.

On the other hand, one Twitter user remarked that Punk had complained about old heads in WWE winning the World Championship and dragging the young guys down. Now, at the age of 43, he wins the World Title while dragging the younger fighters down the table and gets injured on the second day of his reign.

One Twitter user said that, since Punk is now injured, AEW should place the belt on the young guy, rather than Punk, who is old and made of glass. He also believes Samoa Joe will be a strong option for the championship.
