Canelo replied, “He inspired me in many ways. Personal and inspired boxing, too. He did a really good job with boxing, right? He helped us a lot to us as a fighter because he put a role in boxing, so he inspired me a lot.”

Interestingly, there is a very famous quote from Canelo where he mentioned Muhammad Ali. He said, “I want to be like a Muhammad Ali, like a Julio Cesar Chavez. So when people talk about boxing, they have to remember Canelo.”

From now on, everything Canelo does will be historic. After becoming the maiden undisputed super-middleweight champion, the Mexican icon is moving to light heavyweight to challenge himself. However, this will not be the Mexican boxing legend’s first rodeo at 175.

In 2019, he met Sergey Kovalev and clinched the WBO light heavyweight title by a knockout. Hence, Alvarez will look to become a light heavyweight champion for the second time later tonight.

As of now, the Russian pugilist, Bivol, is ready to offer a tough battle to the classical power puncher and possibly become the second man to beat him. Meanwhile, Alvarez will look to have his arm raised for the 58th time as a professional. He will have an added motivation to succeed, as the fight will mark his return to Las Vegas for the first time in three years on Cinco de Mayo weekend.
