Deontay Wilder Confirms Boxing Return: I Can’t Stop Right Here

Deontay Wilder had considered retiring from boxing after losing a historic trilogy battle against Tyson Fury in October 2021. However, he did not proclaim it and took time before reaching the conclusion. Meanwhile, the boxing world kept motivating Wilder to a comeback.

It seems that a long layoff has a profound impact on the retirement plan of the former WBC heavyweight titlist. The torchbearer of American heavyweight in the previous decade has confirmed that he will resume his career.

Recently, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ took to an event to unveil his statue in his hometown of Tuscaloosa in Alabama. While interacting with the people, he said, “This moment of time, my goodness. In the midst of this journey, I’m being blessed. It’s not like I’m retired and it’s been ten, twenty years. This is now that I’m getting my flowers. I can’t stop right now. I must continue with my journey. Love you guys so much. I can’t end it like this, this journey’s not over with. I must continue my journey.”

The 36-year-old has announced his comeback amidst Tyson Fury’s retirement. One of the biggest fights of this generation happened when the pair collided three times in their careers. The power mammoth faced defeat first time in his career against ‘The Gypsy King’ and lost his throne after making record ten successful defenses of his title.

What’s next for Deontay Wilder?

After Tyson Fury, many consider the Olympic bronze medalist the best heavyweight fighter of this generation. He is number one among WBC heavyweight contenders. According to Tyson Fury, the Alabama boxer should return and take his belts after he vacates them because of retirement.

Notably, after thrashing the WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte by TKO, the 33-year-old has announced that he is retiring from the sport to spend time with his family and friends.

This led to the speculation that Wilder can consider returning into the ring for a shot.
