Derek Jeter’s Yankees pinstripes jersey was as popular as Jeter himself. Such was the value of the jersey that the Yankees administration decided to retire Jeter’s jersey post-retirement. It means that no other player in the future will be wearing the No.2 jersey, which became symbolic for Jeter.

While on the talk show ‘NBC 6 In The Mix’, one host complimented Jeter for his glamorous attire at the studio. Then Jeter was asked whether he prefers his classic suit or the Yankees jersey. Jeter readily mentioned the overflow of emotions he went through while taking off the jersey for the last time in his career. Jeter also talked about being alone in the bathroom, on the brink of an emotional outburst.

The hosts asked if Jeter cried on that occasion. Jeter replied, saying “Yes, I did, by myself. I did when I had an opportunity to reflect on a career finally being over. I think I was in the bathroom, and I shed a few tears.”
