Round 13 of the Formula 1 championship kicked off in Budapest on Friday. The teams and the drivers got their first taste of the track as they develop their references for the weekend. Meanwhile, during the practice runs, Sergio Perez stunned the F1 world with his onboard moment on the track.

In FP1, the Mexican sneezed three times consecutively over his team radio and left the F1 pundits bamboozled with this incident. Notably, even while sneezing, he kept his RB 18 under control which flew high at a speed of 250 km/hr. His race engineer was quick to say “Bless you”, while Perez replied, “Oh, a bit of allergy around this place.”

This rare occurrence baffled the F1 journalists, Anthony Davidson and Johnny Herbert. “I’ve never sneezed in a racing car before, ever – I don’t know about you,” Davidson remarked. While, Herbet added “I’m amazed by that, maybe it’s the adrenaline or something but I thought it was impossible to sneeze when you’re driving…Honestly, I’ve never seen that in a racing car.”

Like the commentators, the F1 Twitter could not believe what it witnessed!

The 32-year-old comes off a disappointing weekend in Le Castellet. Even though he finished P4 in the race, a potential podium slipped out of his hands after the late VSC incident. Walking into the last round before the summer break, he is adamant about securing a strong result as he discussed after the Friday practice sessions.

The interviewer asked “Hey Checo, it looked like a tough afternoon out there, trying to get pace out of the car. What was it like inside the cockpit?”

Perez replied “Yeah we were trying, trying very different bits to definitely get comfortable with the car. I think we have a good idea, good understanding of the day. So, hopefully, tomorrow we can be able to show, what we’ve learned today, and I should also transform it to, the high fuel and low fuel pace. So, fairly optimistic, but certainly the Ferrari looked very strong today.”

He concluded by adding “Yeah, I think there is some good understanding of today and we’ve to put everything together tomorrow”. The Red Bull driver also shared excitement about a wet Qualifying season “Yeah it should mix things up fairly nicely, so we are looking forward to it”

Presently, he stands P3 in the championship with 163 points to his name. If he aims to keep his title ambitions alive, he needs to deliver this weekend and leave a mark before the F1 world takes a break. Do you think Checo can win the Hungarian GP?
