Over his career, he has had many memorable victories over the Big Three. One such victory came on his birthday in 2016. In the finals of the Italian Open that year, Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to win his maiden Rome Masters title. Moreover, the 35-year-old had a memorable run at the tournament, having won it without dropping a set.

Judy Murray shares a throwback picture with her son Andy Murray

The three-time Grand Slam champion’s mother took to Twitter to share a hilarious picture with her son on his birthday in 2016. Further, she said, “6 years ago Andy won Rome Masters on his birthday and this is my favourite apres final photo.

In the photo, Andy is holding his Italian Open trophy after defeating Djokovic in the finals. Moreover, the picture had a humorous touch and was clicked at the right moment, with Murray looking up instead of at the camera.

Murray’s preparation for the French Open hampered

Earlier this month, Murray was up against Djokovic in the third round of the Madrid Open. However, he had to withdraw from the tournament owing to illness. As a result, the Serb received a walk-over in the highly anticipated match.

Subsequently, Murray also pulled out of the qualifying round of the Rome Masters tournament last week. The Briton will hope to regain full fitness in time for Roland Garros starting on 22nd May.
