It is said that NXT’s Four Horsewomen were the pioneer of the black and gold brand. The Four Horsewomen was a former stable of WWW comprising four Women’s Champions; Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Sasha Banks are the former four-time Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Whenever an upcoming new generation of female superstars enters the company, they would naturally look up to the Four Horsewomen. However, former NXT General Manager William Regal recently picked two women to change the landscape of the women’s revolution in WWE.

The former NXT GM spoke highly of two female superstars who left WWE that kick-started and inspired women in the WWE.

Who did William Regal choose over the Four Horsewomen?

According to William Regal, before the Four Horsewomen and NXT TakeOvers came into fashion, Paige and Emma helped establish the NXT Women’s division. Saraya Bevis, aka Paige, was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion after squaring off against Emma.

These two women had a rematch in February 2014 at the NXT Arrival pay-per-view. However, even though Paige was victorious over Tenille Dashwood, aka Emma, she also proved her talent.

While speaking on William Regal’s the Gentleman Villain podcast, he snubbed the Four Horsewomen. Instead, he gave Tenille Dashwood and Saraya Bevis his blessing for being the top women in NXT.

William Regal said, “I’m going to give Paige and Emma the highest compliment I can give them. They were the two people before the Four Horsewomen and everybody else. They, Paige and Emma, were the people, the two ladies that set all that in motion as far as being where everything went from then onwards.”

By the time Paige rose in the NXT division, she quickly climbed to the main WWE roster. The former NXT GM was more than happy to watch Paige on the main roster and be the Divas Champion.

Paige and Emma were the foundation of the NXT Women’s division!

There was a time when WWE Divas matches on the main roster used to end in three minutes. However, during the NXT days, Paige and Emma drew a lot of attention from the NXT Women’s division.

Many women on the NXT roster imagined that the main roster was not a proper place to wrestle. However, because Paige and Emma used to perform so well in the NXT ring, they received a massive pop from the fans.

“Paige and Emma were the foundation of whatever came out of the incredible run of ladies that came through NXT and all that the happenings afterward. They were the two starting ladies that sort of got attention on everybody,” Regal added.

The former NXT GM William Regal couldn’t stop singing praises of Emma and Paige over the Four Horsewomen. Even Saraya Bevis thanked William Regal on Twitter for his kind words.
