The Undertaker is one of the greats who has kicked with all kinds of wrestlers in the ring. His experience is equal to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Hollywood. With 30 years in the bag, The Undertaker’s connection with wrestling and WWE has seen many ups and downs, but he never wavered from his main purpose, entertaining the fans just like Dwayne Johnson.

He has seen the careers of many grow and prosper into some of the wrestling’s greatest or failed projects, who stuck around with nothing to do. While there is an extensive list of wrestlers he has worked with, when asked who surprised him most, in terms of how their career turned out in the end, The Undertaker answered pretty quick.

The Undertaker remembers the failed debut of Dwayne Johnson

In an interview with Gary Vaynerchuk, he asked The Undertaker which superstar surprised him in terms of career trajectory.

The Phenom answered, “He came into Madison Square Garden and they’d give him the name of Rocky Maivia. Oh my gosh, it was awful. They handcuffed him right out of the get-go. I remember watching him and the card. They’re [MSG fans] merciless and if they don’t like what you’re doing and they just lit him up. I had no clue how charismatic he was. I was like, Such a shame, he’s not gonna be here long.

And it didn’t take long, once he got to the Nation of Domination. By the time he was at the end of his run with them, I was like, he isn’t gonna be here long. You could just tell that he was destined. And while there are other guys, he’s just the first one that popped into my mind.

While looking at his early days, The Undertaker was right on the mark about The Rock. But the shift that his career would take from there has never been seen, ever since his time. While many wrestlers have amazing debuts but fail to capitalize on them, very few wrestlers can claim to build their career from literal ashes, like Dwayne Johnson. And neither The Rock nor The Undertaker would have imagined the turn of events that would take to their greatness.
